This blog is very different from the usual advice, announcements, and news we share on the website and while it saddens us to have to do it, we do so with positivity about the difference we can make to our colleague and friend, Dave Berney.
Dave is an engineer here at Plumbcare.com and has proved to be one of the most appreciated members of staff during the two years he has worked here, if customer reviews are anything to go by:
“Could not praise Dave enough for his excellent workmanship and customer care. Cleared up after him and acted throughout covid safe. Many thanks for your dedication professionalism, and excellent attitude to customers care.”
“We have just had a wonderful plumber round by the name of Dave. He was so helpful and professional. He gave us lots of advice on what to do. He is a credit to your company. It's so nice to have genuine people who value customers. Thank you”
These are just a couple of examples of the high regard Dave is held in by customers he has visited. He is just as popular among his team mates as well.
Aged just 34, Dave has received the tragic diagnosis of lung cancer with a secondary brain tumour. The cancer is incurable, and he has received the terrible news that he will not survive it.
He will be leaving behind a young family – Harley aged 10 and Blake Aged 7, as well as his long term partner Laura, who he recently married in a beautiful ceremony.
We are crowdfunding now to allow Dave and his family to make some wonderful memories over the next few months. We have set up a crowdfunding page, which you can see here, and we’ve also organised a sponsored 10K walk in January in the Lake District, which many members of Plumbcare.com staff are taking part in alongside Dave’s friends and family.
The walk is intended to be a positive activity and a joyful celebration of our friendship with Dave and recognition for the difference he has made to our family business.
We are therefore appealing for donations, all of which will go directly to Dave and his family (minus any Go Fund Me fees). If Dave has ever attended your property, you will know what a great guy he is, and even if he didn’t, we hope you can see how much he deserves some support now, when he needs it most.
We’re appealing for people to donate whatever they can, however small.
We will keep you updated of news about the walk and the people taking part on here and on the Go Fund Me page. Please consider making a donation.
