The government guidelines regarding the management of COVID-19 are evolving all the time and we are doing as much as we can to keep on top of risk assessments and change our plan for managing the situation accordingly. Since our update yesterday, we have added the following precautions:
We are already asking customers whether they are self-isolating or presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 when we are booking jobs in. Now, our engineers will re-confirm with the customer when they make their usual call 30 minutes prior to arrival. If the answer is yes to either question, they will not attend.
On arrival at customers’ homes, our engineers will knock on the door and then take 2 steps back in order to stand at a safe distance. We would ask that customers respect this and maintain a distance of 2 metres throughout the visit wherever possible, staying away from the engineer’s work space.
If our engineers arrive at a property and find that any occupant has a persistent cough or appears to be running a temperature, despite the customer having confirmed otherwise prior to arrival, they will leave the property immediately.
Visits are usually signed off by the customer using the engineers’ PDAs. We already stated that we’re no longer asking them to do this. However, where hard copy documents require a signature – usually disclaimers or healthy and safety forms – these will be provided by the engineer, signed by the customer and photographed by the engineer. The original will be left with the customer.
These steps are in addition to those detailed yesterday and are designed to protect both customers and staff. We will continue to evolve our plans, as government guidelines are updated. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
